Nintendo Switch direct sharing to X / Twitter ends on June 10th.

Just like PlayStation a few months ago and the Xbox platform last spring, Nintendo’s Twitter sharing features are disappearing as the X API lockdown tightens. (The send friend requests to social media from your Switch feature is also going away.)

The X Gaming account claims “Our partnership with Nintendo remains strong,” so we’ll see which integrations end up on the “Switch 2.”

Goodbye to Apple’s Smart Keyboard Folio, the best iPad Pro accessory

It’s versatile, doesn’t weigh much, and no one else makes anything quite like it for the iPad Pro. Hopefully it’s not gone for good.

A close look at who could succeed Tim Cook.

Bloomberg reports that Cook is likely sticking around Apple for “at least another three years.”

The top of the (speculative) list to replace him has long been Apple COO Jeff Williams, but interest has apparently shifted to Apple’s hardware engineering leader, John Ternus. Ternus is a decade younger than Williams, and he could be expected to hold the role for longer.

The employees, who are represented by the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers, will hold a vote this Saturday on whether or not to go on strike. Hands-on with the new iPad Pro: yeah, it’s really thin

There’s a new screen, a new keyboard, and a new chip. But the design is the thing you notice first on the 2024 iPad Pro.

‘Oh, come on be alive again/Don’t lay down and die!’

The lyrics to Hole’s Malibu, but also a fitting coda for the Chevy Malibu, that is ending production later this year. GM says it will shift resources to EVs, but you know it and I know it, it’s just another sedan sacrificed on the alter of big trucks and SUVs.

This is the Sonos Roam 2 portable speaker

It’s a dead ringer for the original, but the Roam 2 will bring some much-needed simplification to Bluetooth pairing — and hopefully it’ll prove more dependable in the long run.

Apple hasn’t forgotten about its iTunes app for Windows.

Even though Apple is steering Windows users toward its new Apple Music app, it’s still pushing updates to its aging iTunes app on the operating system. The new iTunes version 12.13.2 fixes an exploit that could cause “unexpected app termination or arbitrary code execution.”

A deep dive into an AI content farm.

Product reviews attributed to AI-generated authors have appeared on sites for the The Los Angeles Times, Us Weekly, and many other outlets, according to a new report by Futurism.

The content was produced by AdVon Commerce, a digital marketing firm that was behind the Sports Illustrated and Gannett and USA Today AI debacles, as I reported previously.

Other members of Ive’s team, including hardware designer Evans Hankey, have also left Apple following Ive’s departure in 2019.

Welp, now it’s Sonic’s turn to get a battle royale game.

Remember when Nintendo went through a weird-but-cool phase where it made a bunch of classic games like Super Mario Bros., Tetris, F-Zero, and Pac-Man into online battle royale multiplayer games? Well now it’s Sega’s turn with Sonic. Sonic Rumble, coming winter of this year, lets you and 31 other players compete in a race to the finish. Dodge obstacles and traps, collect coins, and be the first to cross the finish line.

IbisPaint now provides a built-in AI ‘sabotaging’ tool.

The digital illustration app has a new AI Disturbance feature that applies a “noise” layer to images to prevent generative AI models from accurately interpreting their art style.

It’s similar to Glaze, one of several tools that artists are utilizing to protect their work from generative AI mimicry, but without the hassle of jumping to separate software — something that may inspire rivaling art apps.

A before and after comparison of an image in IbisPaint with AI Disturbance applied.
Like Glaze, the tradeoff is a slight visual disturbance, but IbisPaint is the first art app I’ve seen to offer such a feature.

Twisters’ latest trailer is an earth, wind & fire reunion of sorts.

Universal could have pulled off one of the funniest bits possible by releasing Twisters — a movie about swirling vortexes of earth, wind, and fire — on September 21st. But film’s latest trailer is a reminder that studios hate fun, and Twisters is out July 19th.
